The Mechanical Department at the Division of Physics Sciences and Mathematics in Simón Bolívar University is an academic and administrative unit in charge of the design, planning, coordination, evaluation and implementation of the curriculum related to the theoretical and related sciences of Static and Dynamic of Solids Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics, Polymers, Mechanics of Materials, Manufacturing and Processes. Its main objective is to design and implement courses related to any of the following major areas: a) Fluid/Thermal Science, b) Mechanics Materials and Design, or c) Design and Manufacturing. The Faculty at Mechanical Department is active in the research, development and extension of the most promising areas in theoretical and applied mechanics.
The Department teaches annually around 100 subjects belonging to the curriculum of Master of Science and Doctor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, also the following engineering curricula: Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, Chemistry Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Production Engineering and Architecture, as well as the degrees for University Superior Technician in Business Organization, Electrician and in Electronic.
